AFFORDABLE SEO SERVICES
THE FUNDAMENTALS OF A SUCCESSFUL SEO STRATEGY
To get on the first page of Google and stay there, you have to know what Google wants, and what they don’t want. Google is all about giving people what they are searching for, and providing a good user experience. That means that the keywords you are trying to rank for need to be highly relevant to your business and that when people come to your website they get what they want quickly.
Here's some of the essential elements of a successful local SEO strategy...
Google My Business Free Listing
Did you know that if you're a local business, you don't even need to have a website to be able to get on the top of Google searches?
Google allows local businesses to create a free business profile in their 'Google My Business' platform.
And when someone in your area searches for your product or service, or your business name, Google will showcase your business right on the top of the page!
Here's an example of what I'm talking about...
When I search for 'Web Agents North Lakes', here's what comes up:
It all starts here.
Choosing the right keywords is the hardest part of a successful local SEO strategy. If you choose the wrong keywords, i.e. if you choose keywords which are too competitive, or which are not used much, then it doesn't matter how great your SEO is!
For local businesses, choose your main business keyword phrases, combined with your local suburb/s. For example, don't try to get number 1 position for "plumber brisbane". It's too hard. Work instead to rank number 1 for "plumber north lakes".

Organising Website Page Structure for Your Keywords
Let's say you have identified 5 keywords you really want to rank well on Google for. What you need to do is to identify which pages you need to create for each of those keywords.
For example, you are a local dentist in North Lakes, and you want to rank for these keywords:
- dentist north lakes
- teeth whitening north lakes
- braces north lakes
- teeth cleaning north lakes
- root canal north lakes
Here's a good website page strategy for ranking well for each keyword:
Home page - focus on ranking for "dentist north lakes"
Have a 'Services' section on the website, and have these 4 pages under Services:
- Teeth Whitening - focus on ranking for "teeth whitening north lakes"
- Braces - focus on ranking for "braces north lakes"
- Teeth Cleaning - focus on ranking for "teeth cleaning north lakes"
- Root Canals - focus on ranking for "root canals north lakes"
How to Rank Well for Keyword Target Pages
Let's say you have a page on your website you rank well for the search term "car servicing north lakes", here's what you would do on the page:
If your website is built on WordPress, install the Yoast SEO plugin. For this page, set the 'Focus Keyword' to be "car servicing north lakes". Now, Yoast will prompt you to do the steps we mention below.
Page URL - make the url of your page to include your keyword. E.g. yourdomain.com.au/car-servicing-north-lakes/
Metadata - include your keyword in the meta page title and in the page description, e.g. Car Servicing North Lakes. The metadata section is only seen by search engines, like Google, and the Yoast SEO WordPress plugin prompt you where this is.
Headline (H1) - Your page's main headline is what people see first when they look at your page. Also, it is most important that your headline contains your keyword phrase. A good headline for our example page would simply be "Car Servicing North Lakes".
Page Content - Within the text of your page, sprinkle your keyword throughout. Make sure, however, that it reads naturally - don't just stick keywords randomly in places. Google is most concerned about the user experience. If your content is optimised for keywords, but doesn't read well, your Google rankings will suffer. Pages rank best which have 1000 words or more. Also, if your content is 'complete', i.e. it answers all the questions which any person would have on that topic, it ranks better.
Images and Video - Add appropriate videos, images, graphics, screenshots, infographics, etc. Google likes it when there are different types of media used on the page. This makes the content more appealing to your website visitors - which is what it's all about. When you add images or video, use your keyword phrase in the file name (e.g. car-servicing-north-lakes.jpg) and also in the file's attributes, such as the 'Alt' tag.
Especially important for local businesses is to make sure your local address and phone number is on the website. You can have this in the header and or footer of your website (on all pages), and you should create a dedicated 'Contact Us' page. Doing this helps Google to know exactly where you are, and they will help local people to find you.
Internal Website Links
Within your website, you want to make sure that you have links from your home page, and other pages, to your keyword target pages. It's best to user anchor text links for this. For example, on your home page, you could list the services you offer, and for each service, link that phrase to it's corresponding page. Also make sure to link back to your home page from the other pages on your website using this same technique.
External Website Links
Also known as backlinks, links from other places around the internet to your website are very helpful in establishing your site as an authority, which in turn increases your Google ranking power. The more authoritative the website which is linking back to you, the better will be your ranking in Google. For example if you selling Primary school musicals, and you have .edu.au websites linking back to you, that's really going to boost your rankings!
For local businesses, great Google and Facebook ratings and positive reviews are everything. Encourage all your happy customers to leave a review for you, especially on your Google My Business listing, but also on your Facebook page. The more reviews you have, and the better the rating you have, the better the ranking you will get on Google.
While there are no guarantees when it comes to ranking well on Google, the strategies outlined above do work.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. What this means is optimising your business’ online presence so that you are favoured by the search engines (like Google) when someone searches for products or services which you offer.
An example of this is if you are a local Thai restaurant and someone in your area searches on Google for “thai restaurant”. If your website or business listing comes up at the top of the search results it means that your SEO is doing well.
An SEO agency helps you to get your business ranking on the top of Google’s search results whenever a search relevant to your business is made by a potential customer.
Web Agents North Lakes prides ourselves on offering local businesses North Lakes’ most affordable SEO services.
In a nutshell, SEO helps you to appear more prominently than your competitors when a potential customer searches on Google for the product/service you are offering.
Search Engine Optimisation is all about making sure that the main search keywords people use when looking for your product or service, are on your website. By having these words on your website, it allows Google to see that you are relevant. The more relevant you are, and the better the user experience you provide for your website visitors, the better you will rank on Google, i.e. you’ll get to the top of the first page!
If you’re just starting out trying to better rank your website on Google, the simplest and most important things to do to improve your SEO are:
1. Identify the main keyword phrase you want to rank no.1 on Google for, e.g. ‘real estate agent north lakes’
2. Make sure that keyword phrase in on your website home page, e.g. in the page title and in the home page content
3. Create a free Google My Business listing
4. List your business in as many online business directories as possible, e.g. Yellow Pages Online (you can list there for free)
SEO is an ongoing process. You may find new keywords to target, or Google may expect more from your website in order for it to rank well. For example, years ago, a page with 300 words was good enough to rank well, but today you are expected to have ‘complete content’, which includes about 1,000 words, images, graphics and videos.
Also, it is important to get other websites linking back to your content, and this is an ongoing process. For these reasons, SEO needs to be constantly worked on and managed.
SEO has a big impact on how you design your website. It affects:
1. How many pages you have on your site, and how those pages are organised.
2. How much content you publish on your website, and how frequently you publish it.
3. Google is all about the end-user experience, so you want to make sure your website design is user-friendly.
4. Your website must load up fast, so keep this in mind when designing your website – in particular be mindful of how large images are which you are loading up on your pages.
Backlinks are links to your website that come from other websites. For example, if you are a medical centre, you might have links to your website from a blogger who had a good experience and linked to you in an article where they wrote about it. Or you might have links from a local business directory.
The more links you have back to your website, the better your Google ranking will be.
Naturally. If you are trying to rank your home page for a particular keyword phrase, don’t just plonk that keyword phrase indiscriminately everywhere. Yes, you should focus on having your keyword phrase there on the home page, but use that keyword phrase in its proper context.
That’s a great question. It does take a lot of skill to line up all the dots correctly to make SEO work well for you. Also, you have to keep up with all the updates which Google make to their ranking algorithm. However, quotes from SEO companies can vary greatly.
